Look Point USA

The Story Behind Look Point USA

After a car accident, a few years off and a few surgeries, I was looking for a training tool that could help me rebuild my stamina, muscle memory, and core shooting mechanics. After coming up empty, I decided to create my own portable device. With the help of a few friends at my local club in Bellingham WA, Look Point USA was born. Now, with our newly patented design, you can bring world class training right into your home RV or hotel.

Our newly patented laser training Gizmo brings world-class training right into your home. No wires, added weight, sensors, wall posters, VR goggles, or cameras. Go back to the basics of pointing a shotgun and following the mantra of Target. Eye. Gun.

Just 10 minutes a day can help you:

  • Build stamina and endurance

  • Learn to confidently look around your barrel

  • Separate your eyes from the gun

  • Improve target acquisition

  • Refine your pre-shot routine

  • Reinforce proper fundamentals through repetition

  • Develop visual patience

  • Learn to let your eyes drive the gun

How It All Started

I've been doing laser drills with my dad since I was 13. We'd tape an index card to the wall, scatter Post-it notes around as hold points, and he'd shine a laser at a random spot on the wall when I called "Pull."

From my hold point, I physically shift my eyes away from the gun and over exaggerate the shift by either looking to the left, right, above, or below the gun. Once I settled into soft focus, I'd call "Pull," and my dad would shine the laser. Sometimes he'd pull it early to rush me, sometimes he'd delay it, and sometimes he'd time it perfectly to see how I reacted and if I moved the gun at all before I saw the laser.

The goal was simple: keep the gun glued in place and let your eyes do the work. If anything felt off, I'd take the gun down and reset.

This perfect simple drill helped build the foundation of how I point a shotgun today, and it's the same basic training method we're bringing into your home with Look Point USA.

Why the Laser Drill Works

When I use a laser to simulate targets, I can stand in front of a shooter and watch their eyes, barrel movement, and connection to the stock. I can spot bad habits, teach how to shoot with both eyes open, and refine technique in real time without firing a shot.

The laser drill is a simple, no-ammo, no-recoil, no consequence way to work on your pre-shot routine, exaggerate core mechanics, eliminate unnecessary motion, and build better habits through perfect repetition and visualization.

I credit this drill with teaching me how to shoot with both eyes open, look through the "ghost barrel," and point a shotgun instinctively. Your first reflex reaction is always right, trust your eyes, trust your technique, commit to the move, and make one smooth, confident motion to the target.

Back to the Basics

I've tried just about every training tool out there, but I keep coming back to this drill because of the simplicity and portability. Get rid of the distractions and focus on what really matters.

Whether you're a first-time shooter, a parent, a coach, or a current U.S. Olympic team member, the fundamentals never change and need to be rehearsed into perfection.

With the cost of shooting continuing to climb, get back to the basics, build better habits, and make every practice session count by perfecting the technique of Target. Eye. Gun.
